UCYLF Chairman Deacon Kelvin Kpomah Condemns Oghior Violence, Hails Udu Council Boss For Swift Intervention.

The Chairman of the Udu Communities Youth Leaders Forum (UCYLF) and Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Youth Mobilization, Deacon Kelvin Kpomah, has strongly condemned the destruction of properties and rising insecurity in Oghior Community, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, following the announcement of the incoming community youth leader.

Describing the development as barbaric, unnecessary, and a threat to communal peace, Kpomah stated that violence cannot and should never be a means of expressing grievances. He noted that there are lawful and peaceful mechanisms available for resolving disagreements rather than resorting to destruction and intimidation.

“There are better and more lawful ways to express grievances than resorting to violence,” Kpomah said. “No community grows in the atmosphere of chaos. Without peaceful coexistence, there can be no meaningful development. Crisis only drives away investors and keeps communities backward.”

Kpomah further appreciated the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP FCIA, for his swift and proactive intervention in the matter. He commended Oyibode for quickly imposing a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew to prevent further escalation of the crisis and to restore order in the community.

According to him, the council chairman’s timely action demonstrated responsible leadership, commitment to peace, and priority for the safety and well-being of the people.

He appealed to all youth groups, families, and stakeholders in Oghior to cooperate with authorities, obey the curfew, and embrace dialogue as a solution. He also called on security agencies, traditional institutions, and community leaders to continue working together to bring lasting peace to the area.

“Violence is never an option,” he added. “Let us prioritize unity, peace, and respect for due process so our communities can continue on the path of progress.”

Kpomah reaffirmed the commitment of the Udu Communities Youth Leaders Forum and the Delta State Government to promoting peace, justice, and sustainable youth development across Udu and Delta State at large.
